There were over 5 million Syrian refugees in 2014 and this year alone, one million refugees arrived in Europe - over half a million with us in Germany. By 2014, the striking number of 65 million people around the world had been forcefully displaced from their homes by conflict, and war, and natural disasters. Today's refugee crisis undoubtedly is one of the biggest since World War II, and it still seems to be growing.

We want to take a deeper look at the current crisis and the mood of the European countries and how they are trying to shelter and resettle hundreds of thousands of desperate families, who face the impossible choice between overcrowded camps, degrading urban poverty and dangerous illegal journeys to safety. We want to give some of these stories a human face, that is exemplary for the devastating number of human beings trying to escape to better lives.

Some of the questions we will try to answer are: How can we solve the global refugee crisis? How are you personally affected by this crisis? How can regular citizens contribute and become part of the solution? Does journalism play a pivotal role and which answers do politicians offer?
